First Visit

We look forward to meeting you on your first visit to our office. During this time, we will help you get acquainted with our office and learn about your orthodontic treatment. We understand that each patient's orthodontic treatment is different, and we promise to give you the personal attention you deserve.

Your first appointment is a complimentary, comprehensive evaluation of your teeth and how they relate to your facial and jaw structure. The primary goals are to determine if there is a need for orthodontic treatment and, if so, when is the best time to begin. We are also usually able to give estimates of the type of treatment needed as well as the length and cost.

If we determine a need for treatment, the next step is to make diagnostic records. These records usually include dental impressions with which to make plaster models of the teeth, x-ray pictures of the teeth, head and jaw joint (TMJ), and photographs of the teeth and face. The records can often be taken at the initial visit for your convenience. A records fee of $230 is due when records are taken. This fee will be applied toward the total fee for the orthodontic services.

After the doctors have thoroughly reviewed your records, your next visit is a consultation in which the diagnosis will be discussed in detail, the exact fee established and the time of treatment estimated.  At this visit you will be able to choose from the different types of braces available. In the case of a child, the patient and both parents should come to the consultation. For adults, anyone with an interest in the patient's orthodontic care should be present. Financial arrangements will also be made at this visit.
